A consortium of community organizations, educational/ health care institutions,
residents and companies dedicated to enhancing residential and economic life
in West and Southwest Philadelphia.


Volunteer opportunities



* West Southwest Victims Services provides support services to victims of crime in the 12th, 16th, 18th and 19th Police Districts. The following volunteer positions are available:

* Court Coordinator..... working in the District Courthouse @ 55th and Pine, you will observe preliminary hearings, and work directly with crime victims, the District Attorney's Office and the Philadelphia Police. An ideal opportunity for someone with an interest in Law or Criminal Justice. Court hours are M-T-Th-Fr 8 AM until 1 PM.

* Victim Advocate.... working at the Partnership offices (3901 Market Street), you will assist crime victims with completing medical compensation forms, obtaining protection orders, and getting to their court appearances. Office hours are M-Fr 9 AM until 5 PM.

* Other volunteer positions in the Partnership Office:

* Newsletter staff..... For those persons with experience creating newsletters or with an interest in journalism, there are opportunities to assist us in creating our quarterly newsletter.

* Fundraising.......The individuals in this position would work directly with the Associate Director researching funding opportunities and writing proposals for various community organizations in West Philadelphia.

* Internet administration....Training of community residents and Partnership employees on internet use.

* Updating and maintenance of the Partnership Web Page.

* Helping other organizations create web pages. Various research projects on the Internet.
