Why You Should Help:
The West Philadelphia High School Electric Vehicle Program (WPEVP) represents a unique group of students who face tremendous obstacles because they are minority, inner-city high school students. Over ninety percent of them receive government assistance and come from broken homes. The WPEVP gives these students the exposure to advanced course work, important projects where they have responsibility and take pride in their work, and mentors who encourage the students to believe in themselves. The WPEVP grants students the opportunities they need to make successful choices in their lives. Unfortunately, such opportunities are not free. Without sponsorships, the WPEVP would not be possible. The students in the WPEVP are very bright individuals who growing up were simply not entitled to many of the privileges that most people take for granted. These are the students who need to be inspired in an environment that promotes teamwork, communication skills, and the continuation to higher education. By investing in this program, you would be helping to develop these youth into successful adults. The statistics of the program prove that while only 30% of the students in the Philadelphia School District go on to college, over 80% in the WPEVP matriculate to four-year universities. Your sponsorship of this program will truly make a difference in these students’ lives.
